(PETERSON SYSTEM 31 + PETERSON KAPET 80S) *N.MINT* (1970s) Irish Estate Pipes:

Two beautiful Peterson : a straight billiard with push mouthpiece, the System 31, and a slightly bent bulldog with square shank and stem and saddle mouthpiece, the Kapet 80S.

Bowl sizes : similar to Dunhill\'s Group 2 for the System, similar to Group 4 for the Kapet.

Both pipes have been made some time in the 1970s as we conclude from the initial \'P\' of the \'PETERSON\'S\' stamp, which has the Old Style lettering. \"Later in the 1970s Peterson begun production of \"commemorative\" pipes, often referred to as \"replica\" or \"retro\" pipes and these will also have the old style lettering\" [A Peterson Dating Guide, Pipedia]

The System 31 is a special System as the shank\'s stummel is below the base of the bowl, and the stem has a screw-in stinger for better smoke circulation.

Both pipes are in near mint condition with very little ware from use.

The straight billiard has approximate length 147 mm (5.79\"), bowl height 42 mm (1.65\"), chamber depth 25 mm (0.98\"), chamber diameter 16 mm (0.63\") and weighs 32 gr (1.13 oz). Shank marks : PETERSON\'S [arched], SYSTEM [arched], MADE IN THE | REPUBLIC | OF IRELAND, 31 - Ring marks : K & P PETERSON\'S, 3 hallmarks

The half-bent bulldog has approximate diagonal length 136 mm (5.35\"), bowl height 38 mm (1.50\"), chamber depth 28 mm (1.10\"), chamber diameter 18 mm (0.71\") and weighs 36 gr (1.27 oz). Shank marks : PETERSON\'S, KAPET, MADE IN THE | REPUBLIC | OF IRELAND, 80S - Stem marks : P [calligraphic, on the side]

Both pipes do not take filters and have original, p-lip, vulcanite stems.
