You are viewing a lot of 3 Japanese Vintage 50s Fine China Porcelain Figurines, featuring two Dog figures and a Lion Cub Shaker.The red dog has no damage but has some crazing, the collie dog has no damage but it has 2 holes at the top of the head (this was common with figurines after WWII to circumvent customs fees classing it as a shaker). The lion cub shaker is without damage, it has two holes in the head and a plastic bung in the base.

Japanese firms had a large share of the market from the late 1940s through the 1950s. (Production was halted during World War II.) The mark "Japan" denotes a piece dating from 1921 to 1941. After 1941, pieces were marked "Made In Japan." Japanese ceramics were vastly popular post-war years and some were marked “Made in Japan” or“Made in Occupied Japan” and others seemed to be unmarked. Japan began exporting these products after its surrender to Allied forces at the end of World War II in 1945. The “Occupied Japan” mark was discontinued the signing of apeace treatyin 1952.By the late 1950s and early ’60s, companies began producing ceramic figurines etc made from plastic.

They were kitschy, bright and cheap, rather thanthe classic elegant more expensive styles.Japan produced a large amount of ceramicfigural pieces, figures of sentimentally depicted popular animals, pet dogs & cats, dolls and babies, comic characters, fashionable items... etc.Mostly cheap, low-end items, mass-produced and made forBargain Stores and Souvenir Shops for which one would pick up a bargain on a shopping trip or as a memento of an overseas vacation.Salt and pepper shakers were cheap, small and easy to carry, colourful, and made ideal gifts.

CONDITION:These 3 porcelain figures are Vintage 50s, Pre-Owned and they are all in Good Condition. Most of my items do not have original packaging and I use new heavy-duty bubble wrap and recycled cardboard, paper as my packing materials. I use 500 grams, 1kg, 3kg, 5kg Satchels to keep the postage cost down.

DAMAGED & LOST MAIL: All items are sent with tracking.Items over the value of $20 include Insurance. If your item is lost in the post, you need to contact Auspost directly to claim your insurance.

If you require a Fragile Service, you will need to find a courier company that offers this service. Australia Post Extra Cover Insurance will cover you for loss only. Australia Post does not offer a fragile service so items cannot be covered for damage in transit.

However, I deal mainly in Metal-ware so breakage is rare. I always add lots of extra weight to the postage cost to make sure your item is well packed making its journey to you intact. I use heavy-duty bubble wrap and recycled boxes.
