Two (2) 1950s stand up advertising displays for Gordon’s“Quik Snak” Sandwiches from Gordon’s Foods of Atlanta, Georgia, in unusedcondition. These two advertisements would have been displayed on a counter in astore as ‘people pullers’, folded in such a way as to stand up and show a silhouetteof the figure with the cracker sandwich (look at pics closely to see the cutout and fold marks). One has a cartoonish figure of a boy and the other a girl,holding a cracker sandwich, and both feature the same advertising text in redink that reads Gordon’s “Quik Snak” Sandwiches. The one with the boy has theprice 5 cents, and the one with the girl 10 cents. They both also have the sameset up instructions printed in red (would be on back of standee display): ForEffective Display Set Up Box as Shown, Fold Product Illustration Forward onPerforated Score and Lock in Cut Slot in Mouth. There’s an illustration that issupposed to help. Gordon’s Foods was established as a potato chip and snackmanufacturer in Georgia in the early 1930s. These standee displays came fromthe portfolio of Russell Poteet, a graphic design artist who worked for MeadPackaging in Atlanta. The standee featuring the boy is a little larger (justunder 15 ¾” by 5 ½”) than the one with the girl (just over 15 ¼” by 5 ¼”). Theyare both in very good to excellent unused condition. These would look greatframed up or displayed as standees. A nice bit of mid 20th centuryAtlanta GA advertising and food history!
