19th C. PATE-SUR-PATE Porcelain Pitcher, Classical Figures & Cupid:

Welcome to Antiques & Moore!This listing is forabeautiful salmon colored porcelain pitcher with white Pate-Sur-Pate classical design, c. 1875. The pitcher is decorated with classical male and female figures in different poses with a winged cupid above with the design surrounding the body of the vase. The pitcher has a glazed exterior with a creamy white glazed interior. The white pate-sur-pate (paste on paste) treatment of the design stands in relief against the salmon-rose background. The figures have fine details and subtle contouring. The top of the applied salmon colored handle is decorated with a white pate-sur-pate male mask. Pitcher is unmarked but appears to be made by one of the fine English porcelain makers of this period. Measures 7 3/4\" high, 4 3/4\" wide (handle to spout) with a 3 5/8\" diameter base. Weighs 1.5 pounds. This nice pitcher is in excellent Estate condition withno noted flaws.
