~ 1945 Linen PC BERNEY'S Restaurant ORIGINAL AUTOGRAPH By BERNARD BERNEY Florida:
$21.95

Vintage Linen Multi-View Postcard PC Circa 1945 With an Attractive DECKLED EDGE of BERNEY'S RESTAURANT in JACKSONVILLE, FLORIDA FL. There are well over 30 identical postcards just like this one on , but I did not see a single one that is AUTOGRAPHED (in green pen, of course) by the founder and owner of Berney's Restaurant himself - BERNARD BERNEY! While this authgraph is not on the caliber of a sports figure's and therefore does not command a COA, it for all intents and purposes most definitely looks to be an ORIGINAL. I have studied it very closely with a LIGHTED MAGNIFIER and it very much looks AUTHENTIC!! This man wasn't LeBron James - he was a restraunteur and regularly could be seen in his restaurant visiting with his patrons. It is not so far out of the realm of possibilities that one such patron got his authograph and saved it. And, apparently, Berney carried a green pen with him for just such an occasion. A 2017 article about "The Man in Green" by Sandy Strickland describes him as a "walking logo for his restaurant". EVERYTHING ABOUT BERNEY WAS GREEN - His entire wardrobe, the diamond ring he wore on his pinky finger, the car he drove (including the license plate), his hats, his little dog Peggy's outfits, and of course - all the DECOR OF HIS RESTAURANT WAS VERY GREEN! Berney went beyond being a Florida celebrity - he was even featured in a RIPLEY'S BELIEVE IT OR NOT column in New Yorker Magazine. Card is unposted with no brief message written on the back. In good condition according to the Postcard Rating System with 2 bent corners (lower left and upper right). Otherwise, I see no evidence of edge wear, rips, tears, creases, discoloration or pinholes. But, please see photos and you be the judge. Due to the limitations of phone cameras and lighting conditions, it's often difficult to capture the true color of a postcard. Suffice it to say, the true color is PLEASINGLY GREEN (most like photos 3 and 6). Of course - BECAUSE OF THE AUTOGRAPH and Bernard Berney's LEGEND - this card will be listed at a higher price than the MANY other non-authographed cards. There are several non-authographed versions that are listed at an outrageous $19.95!!! This one would actually be worth it!! DON'T MISS OUT ON THIS OPPORTUNITY TO OWN A PIECE OF 1940'S AMERICANA POP CULTURE HISTORY!! WOULD ESPECIALLY APPEAL TO SOMEONE FROM FLORIDA WHO FREQUENTED BERNEY'S AND REMEMBERS THIS LEGEND OF A MAN!! Standard size 5.5” x 3.5”. IMPORTANT POSTCARD SHIPPING INFORMATION: I have switched over to the Standard Envelope System. This allows for inexpensive shipping and also provides a tracking number. It applies to postcards, trading cards, coins and stamps and works for items up to 3 ounces in weight. The shipping cost is as follows:.64 cents per 1 oz, .88 cents per 2 oz, and $1.12 per 3 oz. For multiple item purchases. PLEASE CONTACT ME BEFORE PAYING as I will have to weigh your items and send you an INVOICE. Any card over $20 in price does not qualify for this program. If you have more than 3 cards OR IF YOUR CARD IS OVER $20 IN COST, you must ship via USPS Ground Advantage, the cost of which would be determined by based upon the package dimensions and your zip code. Thank you for your understanding in this matter. ***PLEASE NOTE THAT IF THIS CARD IS BOUGHT AT FULL PRICE $21 IT WILL NOT QUALIFY FOR THE STANDARD ENVELOPE PROGRAM WHICH ONLY WORKS FOR ITEMS UP TO BUT NOT BEYOND $20 IN PRICE. IF THE WINNER OF THIS ITEM ACCEPTS THE BEST OFFER PRICE, HOWEVER, WHICH IS BELOW $20 - THEN SHIPPING WILL BE MUCH LESS EXPENSIVE AS IT WILL QUALIFY FOR THE STANDARD ENVELOPE PROGRAM. I'VE SET THIS ITEM FOR SHIPPING AT THE LOWER PRICE, BUT IF YOU WIN AND END UP PAYING MORE THAN $20 FOR THE FINAL PRICE, PLEASE DO NOT AUTOMATICALLY PAY. THANK YOU FOR YOUR UNDERSTANDNG AND COOPERATION.***Please ask questions before buying and let the photos guide you as well.
