Embroidery of roses given by City of Lyon to Joséphine

Joséphine was inordinately fond of roses, cultivating them at Malmaison. In fact, many varieties that are popular today originated in her gardens. She also commissioned nature artist Pierre Joseph Redouté to paint her roses.
