Soldier of the Imperial Guard

Soldier of the Imperial Guard

Nicolas-Toussaint Charlet -

Napoléon drew from his crack regiments to form the Imperial Guard. Although they were the best soldiers the army could provide, he kept them in reserve in battle after battle. Some historians feel that this accounts for the regiment’s lackluster performance at Waterloo, when they finally had a chance to enter the fray.
